Any change to federal regulation to make the construction of housing easier and cheaper is welcome, but this recent package passed by Congress seemingly misses the mark on the gravity of the current housing crisis. While this bill will relax regulations, including environmental reviews, experts don't expect major change to occur within the next 1-2 years. It's also a reminder that focus must be placed upon cities and local government to create a lasting impact to increase housing supply in the short term.
