Terms of service

Effective date: to be set at launch

The service.

Press and Penny publishes a daily digest: five news stories, selected by a human curator, each presented with an original summary written by us and a link to the source publication’s own reporting. Reading is free; creating an account lets you subscribe to email editions. Using the site or subscribing means you accept these terms.

Your account.

  • Give us accurate information and keep your sign-in to yourself.
  • You’re responsible for activity under your account; tell us promptly if you believe it’s been compromised.
  • You can close your account any time from your account page; closing it ends all email subscriptions immediately.

Email editions.

Email is strictly opt-in: you choose editions at signup, your address must be verified before anything is sent, and every edition carries a working one-click unsubscribe. We may stop sending to addresses that repeatedly bounce.

Our content.

The summaries, the curation, the site design, and the Press and Penny name and marks are ours. You’re welcome to share links to editions and articles; don’t republish our summaries wholesale or pass them off as your own.

Third-party journalism.

The stories we summarize belong to the publications that reported them. Headlines and links point to their work; bylines and publication names are always credited. Press and Penny is not affiliated with or endorsed by the outlets we link to, and clicking through takes you to sites governed by their own terms. If you believe a summary misrepresents your reporting or infringes your rights, contact us and we’ll review it promptly.

Acceptable use.

  • No breaking, probing, or overloading the service.
  • No automated scraping at volumes a human reader wouldn’t produce.
  • No misrepresenting your affiliation with Press and Penny.
  • No use that violates the law.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, with notice where practical.

Disclaimers.

We work to be accurate, but a daily digest is produced quickly and summarizes others’ reporting: it may contain errors, and a summary is never a substitute for the original article. The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, and nothing here is professional, legal, financial, or medical advice.

Limitation of liability.

To the maximum extent the law allows, Press and Penny is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the year before the claim — for a free service, zero.

Governing law.

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Press and Penny is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes.

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced on this page — and to subscribers by email — before they take effect; continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.
