The Surprising Scientists Hit by Trump’s D.E.I. Cuts | New York Times
Analysis: Resentment is rising between those who are unfairly losing their research grants due to Trump’s D.E.I. cuts. Beyond being a blatantly idiotic policy that disadvantages the U.S. on a national stage, it’s also wreaking havoc for people who were raised in the very Republican territories that helped elect Trump. D.E.I. grants don’t just refer to people of color but also to people who have been through the foster care system, who are on food stamps, and whose parents have never been to college.
Analysis: In pursuit of achieving one campaign promise, 1 million deportations, Trump has lost sight of another – removing dangerous and criminal illegal aliens from the streets. ICE has been ordered to focus on the quantity, not the quality, of arrests and deportations. This has left (some) ICE officials feeling like their core mission is being jeopardized while also going against one of Trumps main campaign promises of decreasing serious crime.

Trump’s ‘intelligent’ copper tariffs will ‘wake people up’, says mining billionaire| Financial Times
Analysis: While a U.S. mining billionaire will always hold favorable views on tariffs, there is increasing logic (from my point of view) that tariffs can provide the national security we need in a climate of rising conflict. With that, Trump’s approach has been anything BUT helpful towards national security.
