Our core beliefs that we’ve upheld since 1776 keep people across the world hopeful for what their more authoritarian governments can become. So when citizens in those countries come out and say the actions the Trump administration is taking mirrors their own more corrupt governments, it’s a sign something is truly wrong.

With potential funding on the line universities such as Columbia have turned to increasingly concerning forms of student punishment to appease Republican complaints. Including creating a secretive disciplinary board that requires students to sign an NDA before being explained what they’re being disciplined for. Consequences range from a simple warning to expulsion.
Analysis: Cutting and slashing through the federal budget on all sides are leaving us under-equipped to remain a global leader. From weather service cuts, to national intelligence cuts, to now possible higher education cuts, across the board Trump & Elon Musk are breaking down the systems that allow the U.S. to stay on the cutting edge of innovation and leadership. Grants that universities have come to rely upon are possibly being slashed, leaving many universities to slash incoming PhD candidates. The effects will trickle down.
Analysis: In an unbelievable move, Trump contemplates removing Ukrainian refugees who immigrated during the start of the war. This goes alongside his brutal deportation efforts where no one is spared – no matter the rationale for their immigration. This isn’t just targeting people coming illegally, this is targeting people lawfully entered into the United States through Biden’s immigration programs. A notable deportation arrest that is making waves is the detention of a former Afghanistan Intelligence officer who assisted U.S. troops.
