Analysis: Death by a thousand cuts is what economists are calling Trump’s recent economic and political policy. Each decision from reducing immigration, to tariffs, will wield varying degrees of negative impact on future economic impact. While there is still hope that tax cuts and other economic policy could help dampen the blow, the general outlook is negative.

Analysis: The rumblings from Republican congressmen made their way to Trump’s ear after substantial cuts to various agencies. While their backlash has been quiet and outside the public view elected representatives are skeptical of the efficacy of broad firings. This has resulted in a rolling back of Elon Musk’s powers. How much he’ll actually pull back we have yet to see.

Analysis: Long gone are the days of qualified candidates leading the government. Trump’s 2024 administration has ushered in a new kind of DEI, the type that rewards loyalists and cronies. A new F.B.I deputy director, long a role that requires extensive experience within the F.B.I, has been hired solely off his connections to far-right figures such as Kash Patel. He has no prior F.B.I. experience. When countless roles are filled by unqualified hires, the effects trickle down.

Analysis: In an incredible display of incompetence and malice, the Trump administration has instructed the military to remove all forms of imagery related to diversity. In this pursuit they have removed photos related to the first black unit in the military, one of the first women to pass training, and even a photo of the plane that dropped one of the atomic bombs on Japan simply because the plane had the word “Gay” in it’s name, simply named after a person not a sexuality. This goes beyond rolling back DEI, this is an erasure of history.

Analysis: A friendly interview with Mitch McConnell leaves a renewed sense of gratitude for his work throughout his 40 years in the Senate. Even as he decayed our institutions, pushed forward conservative agendas, and ultimately may have been the deciding factor in sparing Trump from conviction, Mitch McConnell looks like a respectable senator in the face of the new MAGA Trumpers in congress.
