The Trump Administration is preparing further strikes against Iran after the midterm elections. After eight months of fighting, a final round of strikes is likely to do nothing to dismantle the Iranian regime. Rather, it will likely embolden Iranian officials that the only safety against the U.S. is the pursuit of a nuclear weapon. Unable to mediate a deal to end this conflict, the Trump Administration leaves us in a markedly worse position as a country than prior to the war.
