The Army of God Comes Out of the Shadows | Atlantic
- Even as America, and the world as a whole, become more secular religious fanatics are gaining traction across the country. Their message is unified: God has built an army and their conquest is to reshape America under Christian rule. This isn’t some exaggeration or fancy wordplay. Megachurches, pastors, and zealots across the country are clinging to the Republican party, namely Trump. But this is nothing new, the Republican party has always been the home of deeply traditional religion. The difference now is in the corners of the more extreme houses of workshop they are pushing that now is the time to overthrow democracy with religious rule. Listening to the firsthand accounts of these people’s beliefs and even more so hearing how they worship always reminds that they life in a different world than us.
- I for one fully support U.S. expansion when done democratically with the local population’s majority vote on integration. Now, whether Trump will follow the democratic part is a great question. Looking back at the Louisiana Purchase, Alaska Purchase, and even the more debatable Hawianna annexation, I’d say more than a large majority of Americans are very happy with that expansion. The problem always lies within the present moment, that’s where you will see opposition. Hypothetically, if Greenland was to democratically chose to join the U.S., we should absolutely take the chance and expand the Union.

- The fire rages on in LA with on 10% of the largest blazes being contained. Weather forecasts predict a possibility winds will pick up again putting further strain on the firefighting effort. High winds are what originally set this disaster in place and they yet again have a chance to elongate it.
- The incoming Syrian government has an almost impossible task of juggling building an effective and citizen-serving government while on the other hand providing justice for those wronged by the previous regime. Experts who have studied previous regime changes where the past is filled with violent crimes say to properly exert justice the government must first tend to its citizens, i.e. providing stable water, electricity, etc. to build credibility before then acting quickly and justly to bring previous regime officials to face their crimes. I’m skeptical if the rebels who overthrew Assad are skilled or prepared enough to take this course.

- A story that seemingly slipped by me – In 2023 an alarming number of U.S. intelligence officials reported an out-of-nowhere ringing sensation and then very real physical ailments some of which are long-lasting until today. Most intelligence officials report working in the same place, Havana. Intelligence reporting into the incident in 2023 was confident it was not an enemy attack but new intelligence has some agencies shifting its conclusion, stating there’s a possibility. What foreign adversary and what possible weapon could have caused multiple U.S. officials to all report the same symptoms from the same place?
