Analysis: The cease-fire deal in Gaze continues to remain shaky. At every turn, Israelis and Netanyahu are looking for a way to resume the fighting while Hamas uses every hostage release as a display of power and might. With the new backing of the Trump administration, there is little in the way of Netanyahu and his far-right coalition to resume the fighting once all hostages are released or once Hamas makes a mistake so widely accepted that they can resume.

Analysis: Turning our back on Ukraine is turning our back on all democratic work we’ve put some much effort into since the conclusion of World War 2. We all knew Trump was sympathetic to Putin. We all knew Trump already tried to withhold military assistance to Ukraine during his last administration. We all knew this was always a possibility. But to finally witness it, seeing the U.S. not only turn its back on an ally but directly align itself with an Authoritarian government is deeply saddening and against our core beliefs.

Analysis: The green energy transition is just that, a transition. It’s stupid to not believe we need a focus on renewable ecologically friendly energy and mineral production. But to believe we can get to that point of net zero pollution without leveraging pre-existing energy production sources is implausible. How far is too far in stopping existing production?

Analysis: Republicans take their first congressional actions since they won control of both the House and the Senate, looking to approve a funding bill to increase border security and bolster deportations. On the other side of the aisle Democrats, with little to no power now, begin to strategize what actions they can take to frame their fight. Democrats’ key focus now seems to be ensuring further tax cuts to billionaires and the ultra-wealthy cannot be renewed.
